The Batpup has wildly eclectic tastes in music and videos. Here's a selection.

I heard Gotye's Heart's A Mess on a shop's muzak system one time, and remembered enough of the words to google it and find this video. I like it because of the Alan Parsons Project-like harmonies; I think the BatPup likes it for the animation, which is quite hypnotic.

The Beloved picked Beautiful Boy as her song to sing the Boy Wonder, so I quite liked the symmetry of singing Elton John's Empty Garden to him as well. (Elton does a good eulogy, although filking his own song about a third-rate porn star to eulogise a British princess was perhaps a lapse in judgement.) The BatPup turned out to really like it, and this time I know it's the song rather than the video:

I usually have to dredge my memory for songs to sing her at night, and this is one I memorised from the Proclaimers' excellent Sunshine on Leith (the title track of which used to be her favourite before she started demanding only "new" songs).

In a completely different mood, this is one of those culturally essential experiences:

And we found this as a result of watching that:

The BatPup has a very Battish sense of humour.

And finally, [info]whooz_queen showed us this a while ago, and it was a hit:

Although not, oddly enough, as much as this one:

Now what I really need is more suggestions for quiet bedtime songs that I can sing and silly song videos that I can show her. My repertoire is running low...

Beatles Yellow Submarine springs to mind for silly videos, along with Blur's Park Life and Oasis' The Importance of Being Idle. Oh and De Lite's Groove is in the Heart.
Beatles again for quiet songs: Yesterday; Hey Jude (go easy on the crescendo-ing chorus); Across the Universe. I assume you've run the gamut of Simon & Garfunkl? I used to have a cassette of Carol King Sings for Kids, or something to that effect. I probably listened to it until it wore out. One of my faves was Inch Worm "measuring the marigolds, you and your arithmetic, you'll probably go faaaaaar'.
And from a completely different angle, the Seekers' Bird Song, still one of my all time fave enviro songs.
